About me

Ordnungscoach Vanessa Schittek

Hi, my name is Vanessa.

I wasn’t born with an organizing gene; rather, I realized as an adult how important organization is for my concentration and well-being. Gradually, I got rid of more and more things that I „might need again“ and don’t miss them! During my last move, I did a thorough decluttering. Now, I have systems and structures in place that help me restore and maintain order more efficiently, such as the motto: „Don’t put it down, put it away!“

After training as a pharmacy technician and working a few years in a pharmacy, I decided to leave the bureaucratic healthcare system and pursue a degree. I earned a Bachelor’s in European Ethnology and Gender Studies and a Master’s in Intercultural Communication Studies. After that, I worked in various educational fields and now freelance as an anti-discrimination and diversity trainer.

Since this work is emotionally and mentally very demanding, I looked for a second career where I could use my creativity and work with my hands more. After discovering the professional side of organizing with Marie Kondo and „The Home Edit“ on Netflix, I found Isabella Franke and her Akademie der Ordnung and became certified as a professional organizer. I then took several specialized courses at the Center for Professional Organizers.

I can integrate my various trainings and experiences well to work more holistically. My organizing and coaching approach is inclusive and opposes all forms of discrimination based on origin, religion, skin color, sexuality, gender/sexual identity, and disability. When we work together, it is important to me that we feel comfortable with each other and create an honest and trusting relationship.

My client Tiziana said after we finished organizing her kitchen:
„You understood exactly what I needed without me knowing it myself. You catered to my taste and needs, suggesting new ideas without making me feel my lifestyle and preferences were devalued. Everything looks much calmer and clearer now. I look forward to inviting people over and cooking for them again.“

What I offer

We can declutter and (re)organize your kitchen, pantry, wardrobe, office/workspace, cellar or attic, living area, business… you name it.

We’ll find new structures and systems that work best for you.

FAQ

How long does the coaching or organizing take?

I will give you an initial, non-binding assessment during/after a free initial meeting. The duration depends on factors like the size of the room/area, personal wishes, scope of tasks, etc.

Do I have to be present when you are here, or can you tidy things up on your own?

That depends on your goal. I don’t tidy up in the traditional sense, but I can organize and sort everything in the desired area on my own after discussing your wishes and ideas. However, if you want to work on your own tidying behavior and learn how to keep things tidy, you should be present and we’ll do everything together.

I find it hard to part with things. How much do I need to clear out and what happens to my things?

That’s entirely up to you. I won’t force you to do anything, but we’ll look together at what can help you let go. We will also decide together which items can be sold, donated or disposed of.

What about my privacy?

You decide what I can enter and see! With your permission, I’ll take before-and-after photos/videos as motivation for you and for progress recording. With your written constent, I might also use them anonymousky on my website or Instagram.

I'm embarrassed to hire someone to declutter.

You don’t have to be. You can think of it like hiring a cleaner or a handyman to do the work for you.
In the USA, for example, it’s common to hire a professional organizer. My job is to work non-judgmentally, discreetly, and empathetically.

Do I have to tidy up or buy anything before you arrive?

No. You can, if you like, have a vacuum cleaner and a cloth ready (for a quick clean of the cupboards, shelves etc.). If we need products (boxes, hangers, drawer dividers, etc.), we will decide together what makes sense and I will give you suggestions. However, I always try to work with what you already have.

How can I pay?

In cash or by bank transfer. For projects that take longer than a day, I work with partial payments.

What is NOT part of your services?

I do not offer estate clearing, disposal services, cleaning (of course I dust a shelf or similar), furniture removal, sales, furniture assembly or similar. Of course, I can give you a few tips if necessary.
